  • What makes my concept a Business?
    • Your idea is a business, if you treat it like a business.
  • How do I do that? 
    • Document! Document! Document!
      • The most important thing to ensure your business will pass the hobby vs. business test, is how you treat it.  Track your expenses, all of  your related purchases, your mileage,  track your meals where you discuss your business with partners or clients, track your income.
  • Choose your business organization structure (sole proprietor, LLC, S Corp, C Corp, etc.)
  • Visit your Secretary of State’s website to designate yourself as a business and be recognized as a business.
  • Visit the IRS site to acquire an EIN (unless you choose to be a sole proprietor and you will use your SSN)
